Our Company

An expert partner right from the start

Hamburg Verkehrsanlagen GmbH (HHVA) is a public-sector company owned by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. It is held wholly by HGV Hamburger Gesellschaft für Vermögens- und Beteiligungsmanagement mbH. With more than 250 employees we handle all key-processes ourselves. This enables us to operate relatively independently, always with the interest of our clients – and ultimately local residents – in mind.

Although that is not always easy, we embrace this challenge afresh every day with the help of our dedicated staff.

We care about Hamburg and its citizen

No one should have to find their way around in the dark or sit in congestion for longer than is absolutely necessary. A well-functioning city is our vision and our passion. It’s why we get out of bed in the mornings. To ensure that things run smoothly, our control centre can be contacted 24/7. This is how we ensure the high availability of our systems.

Expert implementation from start to finish

How do we use our expertise to support our clients’ decision-making right from the start? For example, by checking the system compatibility of new technologies at our own testing laboratory and making sure that all components are dovetailed with one another. This ensures stability, reduces maintenance and lowers life-cycle costs.

What makes us special

Not affiliated with a particular manufacturer

If there's a will, there's a way. We make solutions possible by programming control units ourselves and ensuring that suitable interfaces are in place, all with an eye on the future. Or finding solutions for special lighting situations. By combining different systems, we constantly further develop products.

Testing facility

Organisations such as TÜV test individual components or systems produced by a particular manufacturer. We also test whether different manufacturers’ systems work together. By doing so, we ensure that they operate smoothly in real life and maintain our exceptional standard of quality.

Stock of spare parts

At night a push button at a road crossing in central Hamburg fails and a replacement has to be ordered. Not with us! We keep a stock of crucial spare parts, allowing us to repair defects quickly and keep the traffic moving.

Our quality management system is certified as per ISO 9001:2015 and our occupational health and safety management complies with ISO 45001:2018, so there can be no doubt as to our high standard of quality.

Control centre

The team at our control centre can be reached 24/7, 365 days a year, in case a system fails. Our fault notification system enables anyone to report defects via our website or using our app, wherever they are.

Specialist staff

We have in-house staff in all key areas – installation and planning, procurement and logistics, training and HR, controlling and finance. We work with them to develop innovative pilot projects for sustainable, future solutions.
