We link vehicles or road users with transport systems using digital signals based on G5 technology. This means that road users know a traffic light is red before they even reach it, for instance. That allows them to save power and fuel by driving more slowly or braking as they approach the lights, or provides the digital information for this to be done automatically. It can even help to prevent accidents. The project spans about more than 12 kilometres from the Elbphilharmonie to the exhibition centre, including more than 50 sets of traffic lights and a bridge. The test track is available for interested companies and research institutions.
